Notes on Ubuntu Packaging

Overall I thought this went pretty well. Some misc notes after the fact:

• Using gobby to follow along, paste notes, commands, etc worked very very well. Do this agagin
• The download time was ok on the cable for the most part so the local mirror isn't a necessity
• Seven people was actually a pretty good size with one person leading. It might be possible to have a larger group with more “knowledgeable” people to help lead.
• Block out time to handle GPG issues (explain, setup, sign, etc)

• Merging a package from Debian to Ubuntu
• Package a Python app
• Fix a bitesize bug for a package and upload/commit
• Full walkthrough of setting up a PPA
• Packaging a Java App
• Detailed discussion of working with Launchpad
